Alala named after the Hawaiian raven close to extinction, added the "one" to her name, after realizing she might outlive them. An artistic creature at heart, she fell in love with djing while working on her film degree. Dodging the bullet of commercial sounds, Alala.One began digging for vinyl gems like Gas and Pole that would start to define her unique, dub-inspired dance sets. Now a highly skilled dj and Development Director for Communikey, this active artist brings her melodic, elegant techno sound to the dance floor. One of the few female djs in the Colorado scene, Alala.One has played with Cobblestone Jazz, M.I.A., Falko Brocksieper, Sutekh, Mossa, Portable, [A]pendics Shuffle, Lusine, and more. Raised by mash-up wolves in the den of roots, dub and funk, her sound unmistakably echoes the bass washes of modern dub while saluting the jackin' minimal sounds of Berlin and Montreal.
